Benefits of Hand engraved cast models
Beauty / Longevity / Individuality
The casting procedure retains virtually every detail of the original master engraving, however it simply cannot retain the original depth-of-cut, brilliance or the crisp detailing of a hand engraved original. The Engraving Enhancement option is designed to elevate the quality of the cast ring and restore the decoration to its original state as a hand engraving with all its beauty and elegance.

1) Hand Engraved Enhancement: This option yields a striking ring quality only paralleled by those rings engraved by personal commission from scratch and costing three times as much.

2) Depth of cut: For the most part the depth of fine details define the life span of the ring decoration. All casts undergo extensive finishing work and regardless of how gentle one is loss of detail is a fact that has no easy remedy under traditional casting and finishing conditions. A certain percentage of micro detail and depth is lost in the preparation process of ring making since topical sanding polishing coupled with a standard 1% casting shrinkage reduces micro details to even shallower depths. Ultimately the longevity of any fine decoration is considerably improved when re-cut by hand. The hand engraved option goes far beyond restoring a standard depth of cut but actually exceeds it by 200% cutting well past all cast markings reaching clean brilliant metal and cutting anew. Engraved versions will retain their beauty for generations.

3) Brilliance of cut: All original engravings have a brilliant cut until they are made into casts where the porosity of the metal removes the original Bright Cut reducing it to a dull frosted look. Consequently, all standard non-engraved cast models require a black lacquer-fill in order to accentuate the fine micro details making them prominently visible. While all rings have a wonderful appeal and are striking in all models and at all price ranges there is no substitute for the natural play of light upon hand engraving. The cast rings that undergo the enhanced hand engraving require only natural light in order to create contrast and reflection and is the true fine art of the Hand Engraving Artist. Additionally each is hand signed making every ring a hand engraved original that only appreciates with time and no two rings are identical as each engraved cut line is as individual as a painters brush stroke.
